By using this system, end users can ask for a phone number via a web page and receive an assignment within seconds. Once assigned, calls to the number are directed to various VoIP-based applications of the end userÕs choosing.

For example, end users can choose to have calls directed to an IP-based fax-to-email conversion application, a SIP-based configuration, or even to their home, office, or cell phone, similar to traditional call forwarding.
